Citizen Science dates back to the days when avid birdwatchers posted or telegraphed their bird spottings to scientists who could thus track seasonal migration patterns across the years. In the era of the web and the mobile phone, more and more Citizen Scientists are getting involved in helping scientists gather data, classify and tag data, identify patterns, and play games for Science.
At the Citizen Cyberlab, we are building digital tools and online collaborative platforms for Citizen Science, and striving to enhance the opportunities for learning and creativity available to Citizen Scientists world wide. One of these platforms is RedWire, which is an online game engine for remixing, mashing up, and experimenting with game designs - making scientific games easier to develop and more fulfilling to play.
