The Web was supposed to free us all and empower each of us. Instead, we end up losing control of our software and data as silos take over them. Vendor lock-in, user profiling, mass surveillance is what we end up with. And it's going to get worse if we don't take the matter into our own hands.

The topic of this talk is to discuss how we can do this - by using Free and Open Source Software, spreading crypto, running our own servers, creating protocols, finding alternative business models to targeted advertising.
