A session starting from the shared assumption of a scenario (regarding distributed manufacturing) where we produce less and in a very different way, where only competences constitute an asset in place of machineries.
That scenario will be characterized by the persistence of a high quality production hybridized with the world of intelligent/interactive technologies, where artisans and makers will work together.
In that world, there won’t be room for the majority of current active small companies, though they are depositaries of a deep and structured knowledge. How could we help those SMEs to be part of the future? How to integrate manufacturing capability with knowledge sharing and valorization?
We’ll showcase a few experiences and tools oriented to extract value from technical knowledge, sharing traditional proceedings and actions aimed to transform small companies in open-common facilities.

The workshop will be composed by the following tasks/activities:
Goals definition: how to integrate manufacturing SMEs revenues generated by producing with knowledge sharing and valorization actions;
Definition of lines of action by thematic and systemic areas;
Definition of the instrument: a toolkit made by a series of actions by sector, case histories and operational modalities with annexed examples of services/platforms/projects useful for effective work;
OUTPUT: a prototype to be graphically designed and built as a booklet with strategies explanation. the toolkit will need to be tested and validated in the next 3 months with a few companies from different countries and from different sectors. > report and feedback > public launch early 2016.
