The vast majority of business models are volume-based. The more a company wants to earn money the more it has to sell units of products or services.

This quest for volume shows its limits when markets saturate: higher pressure on price, rising costs, erosion of margin, deadlocks in terms of resources consumption, hindrance to release disruptive innovation, intensification of work with resulting health issues on people, … The only option to go beyond these limits is to change the fundamental nature of business models to shift from a volume to a value-based logic.

This speech will introduce functional and cooperation economy as a promising innovation on business model to create positive synergies between financial success, environmental improvements and social benefits.
